Alrijne Hospitals – illustrations for accessible patient information brochures

(educational, for low literate, illustration, Leiden, medical)

Commissioned by Alrijne Hospitals (with locations in Leiden, Leiderdorp and Alphen aan den Rijn), I made illustrations to make information brochures more accessible to patients. I made various illustrations about colonoscopy, endoscopy, urinary catheters, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, TEE, vacuum biopsy of the chest, cardiac catheterization, duplex examination and spinal hernia.
In these medical brochures, difficult concepts have to be explained sometimes, and it was desirable to clarify these with illustrations for patients, and in particular those with low literacy.
